EDUCATION………………………...

KVAHC members work closely  with area schools to educate students on the importance of archaeology as a tool for understanding their heritage.

Students from Walker Memorial Academy in Avon Park, Fl  have become an integral part of the KVAHC team.  They accompany members in the field and have established a display in their school's library.  The faculty of Walker Academy this year began a credited archaeology class in their science program.

President Anne Reynolds speaks at area schools and service organizations about the early inhabitants of Florida.  She also demonstrates how these people manufactured and used the tools that we sometimes find in excavations.

On a recent test excavation a student uncovered a point.  He held it in his hand and wondered, "Can you believe that no one has touched this point since before Columbus discovered America."   Moments like these are  rewarding  when working with students.

KVAHC members  have display booths at many of the local area fairs and career days.
