4/3/2010 Auburn Amphibious Warrior Mud Run
Auburn, Al - The University of South Florida NROTC Unit sent a team to the Amphibious Warrior Mud Run at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama consisting of Sgt Matthews, MIDN 3/C Indiano, MIDN 3/C Dowling, MIDN 4/C Ibarra and MIDN 4/C Soucie. The Mud Run is a 5 Kilometer (3.1 mile) trail run with obstacles, hills and a half-mile stretch literally through a creek and lots of mud. The event was open to men and women ranging in ages from 11 to 60 years of age. Hundreds of competitors ran in the event, but our very own MIDN 3/C Dowling won the event for his age group with a time of 34:43, six minutes faster than his closest competitor. MIDN 4/C Ibarra placed third in her age group with MIDN 3/C Indiano coming in a close fourth in her age group. The runners were so caked with mud at the end of the race a fire truck was used to hose them off. Our success at the Mud Run further solidified the Buccaneer Battalion’s place as one of the top NROTC Units in the nation.
