Road Guard Procedures

Purpose-To cross any roads while in formation.

Main Commands-

"Road Guards Post"

"2 Road Guards Out"

"Road Guards In"

"Road Guards secure your gear and fall into the rear of the flight"

Overview-In order to utilize your road guards you must have them infront and behind of your flight. To do this you will call the command "Road Guards Post". The road guards will then fall out of the flight and fall in 6 paces infront and behind the flight. When approaching an intersection you must halt your flight and clear the way for your road guards. Go to the middle of the intersection, stop at the position of attention, put both arms out showing an open palm, return to the position of attention, do an about face, repeat putting your arms up and return to the position of attention. Your next while still in the road your command will be "2(or 4) Road Guards Out". The Road Guards will then run into their respective lanes facing traffic, come to the position of attention and then snap to parade rest with their right arm straight out either with an open palm or holding the caution vest. You will now give the flight forward march through the intersection and halt them when they have all across. During this the rear Road Guards will tap out the first ones and take their place by taking one step forward and repeating the above procedures. The first Road Guards will then return to the front of the flight. You will then call "Road Guards In" fall back into position on your flight and call the command "Road Guards secure your gear and fall into the rear of the flight" and then continue marching the flight as usual.

Notes-
