Welcome to the
Freethinkers of USF

We are a group of students, professors and alumni of USF who inquire into the beliefs that are too often taken for granted in our society.

Our purpose is:  To question old dogmas and new superstitions; to challenge and overcome ignorance using the methods of science and logic; to strive for a world of reason and understanding.

We will attempt to accomplish these goals by:

1.  Providing an intellectually stimulating environment where the USF community can meet to discuss relevant issues such as science, religion, skepticism, and their importance in our daily lives.

2.  Planning and executing various activities, such as open debates and sponsoring guest speakers, to educate campus and community members about the importance of critical thinking and rational thought in today's world.

3.  To monitor and respond to irrational claims and beliefs in the USF community and the world at large.  Irrational claims include, but are not limited to: pseudoscience and science, evolution and creationism, cults and religion, near-death and out-of-body experiences, paranormal beliefs, astrology, UFOs, questionable alternative health therapies...etc.
